Leading food and beverage retailer in the aviation industry, Gate Retail serves more than 315 million passengers each year across 20 airlines and on more than 1,000 aircraft. Navigating such a complex web of operations takes extensive expertise, but it also takes an expansive network of technology providers.
As a global business with many moving parts, such a wide-ranging supplier base had become difficult to manage. Add to this the need to track assets across different airlines, territories and a vast number of aircraft, Gate Retail needed the support of a trusted partner to ease the pressure on its business.
The Solution
Engaging with Gate Retail as its supplier of iPhones and other related items like Chip & PIN payment sleds, we took the time to fully get to know the business and immerse ourselves in the way in which it operates. Identifying areas that cause pain, we quickly discovered that much difficulty spanned from the management of so many suppliers. Our flexible approach and openness to building new manufacturer relationships have saved significant time for Gate Retail, providing a singular point of contact and minimising direct responsibility.

The Project
Innovative Asset Management
We developed an innovative and highly cost-effective solution to solve the asset management challenge. Supplying Gate Retail with custom-branded iPhone screen protectors, we worked with the manufacturer to embed sequential barcodes directly within the protectors.
Now, with a quick scan of the barcode, their team can know everything they need to about a device received back including previous repairs and the device owner without the hassle of locating each device’s IMEI number.
Easing Supply Issues
With global supply chain issues causing havoc, significant delays to manufacture goods and the post-pandemic travel boom put Gate Retail under immense pressure. To meet their technology needs faster, we sourced a reputable 3D printing company that can deliver within one to two weeks of the 3D printing file being supplied.
